Postpartum Rehab

As new mothers heal, we are here to help. Revolution Physical Therapy offers an emphasis on neuromuscular retraining and strengthening of the pelvic floor, hip, and abdominal musculature for our postpartum clients who are looking to return to exercise, experiencing pain from labor, birth complications, and cesarean deliveries.

Our pregnant clients are guided through safe rehabilitative exercises to help strengthen pelvic floor, hip and abdominal musculature to help prepare for birthing and avoid pain. Lumbopelvic conditions and Diastasis Rectus Abdominis (splitting of the abdominal muscles) are common diagnoses treated as well.

Kristina Phu, DPT, is trained to help breastfeeding postpartum patients who may be experiencing inflammation of breast tissues, blocked ducts, mastitis, milk blebs, in need of pumping support, and/or pain from breastfeeding positions.

Women’s Health FAQs

Women’s health physical therapy focuses on disorders and conditions that primarily affect women. Postpartum physical therapy helps women who recently had a baby strengthen and retrain their bodies after labor and delivery. It also focuses on breast-feeding support as it relates to the musculoskeletal system.

At Revolution PT we believe in the importance of starting therapy while pregnant to relieve the discomfort that comes with a changing body. Physical therapy can also help mothers prepare for labor and delivery and maintain strength during their pregnancy.

Like every woman, each labor and delivery is unique. It is important to consult with your physician or midwife before beginning physical therapy. At Revolution PT we understand the wide array of body changes that happen after birth and the drastic change in schedules, making time for yourself can become a challenge. Know that when you are ready to retrain and strengthen your body to get back to exercise or relieve pain from birth, contact us and schedule an assessment. Our physical therapists are experienced and trained to help you get back to your activities of daily living and reach your fitness goals.
